Technology Transfer
In the field of optics and biophotonics the BMO cooperates closely with the Medical Laser Center Lübeck (MLL). The MLL GmbH is a non-profit technology transfer company in the building of the BMO. The MLL transfers through applied research ideas and methods of Biophotonics and Laser Medicine, often from the BMO, into the market. The MLL offers industrial partners application-oriented research from innovative methods to the development and testing of potential new medical products. This may include clinical and preclinical studies with own prototypes or systems from industrial partners conform with the Medical Device Directive (MDD) which will be carried out together with clinical partners. The MLL has gained outstanding expertise over many years in optical diagnostics and therapy, especially for ophthalmology and minimally invasive surgery.
As part of the link between biophotonic methods and classic medical technology at BioMedTec Science Campus Lübeck the BMO works closely together with the medical center of excellence TANDEM (Center of Excellence for Technology and Engineering in Medicine).
With regard to testing of new medical methods and devices the BMO cooperates with UniTransferKlinik Lübeck GmbH. The fully equipped transfer operating room (Transfer-OP), which is part of the building of the BMO, can be used by the UKSH and industry partners.
